September 11

What happened on September, 11, 2001?

On September, 11, 2001 there were various terrorist attacks in the U.S. One of those attacks includes the Twin Towers in New York. Another attack included the one on the pentagon in Washington D.C. The air plane that was supposed to hit the white house was attack by the passengers and crashed in Pennsylvania.

Why did Bush’s use of the word Crusade Worry and outrage people?

Using the word Crusade is bad because war on terrorism is only talking about the terrorist. Including the word crusade tells that the war is declared on the entire religion.

Why is it bad to compare the current war to the crusades?

It’s bad to compare the current war the crusades. In the crusades there was a war between religions. One of those religions was Islam. Comparing the war to the crusades causes conflict on an entire religion not terrorism.

Who were the groups of people fighting in the original crusades?

They were French, bohemians, Germans, Englishmen, Scots, Italian, and Spaniards.

Gladiators

In ancient Rome there were distractions. Gladiators were put to fight in a coliseum for entertainment. They would have to fight each other till one of them will die. They will fight each other and exotic animal’s ass well. The gladiators were slaves, criminals, and Christians. The crowd will say if the person should die with thumbs down, and if the thumbs will be up he shall live. The gladiators will fight throughout 3 years and if they survive those 3 years they will be free.

There are many distractions in the U.S today. Some of them can be referred as T.V, computers, and sports. Just like in Rome there are dirty sports that can be compared to the gladiators. In the UFC the fighters will fight until one is knocked out and can no longer fight.

We think that the U.S is a little similar to the roman that cheered as people got killed in the coliseum. Today the people in America watched sports such as boxing and UFC fighting. In roman the people watched people get killed in the coliseum just like we see people get knockout.

Philosophers

Philosophers

After the war several great thinkers appear that were set to find answers to hard answers no matter where the search led them. They where called philosophers which meant “lovers of wisdom.” They based their findings in the following two assumptions.
“The universe (land, sky, and sea) is put together in an orderly way, and subject to absolute and unchanging laws.”
“People can understand these laws through logic and reason.”

One of these philosophers was Socrates. He believed that “the unexamined life is worth not living.” He later was killed at age of 70 at a trial where he was declared guilty for “corrupting the youth of Athens,” and “neglecting the city’s gods.” He later was follow by one of his students name Plato. He wrote a book named, “The Republic” which stated a perfect govern society. Then he was followed by one of his students name Aristotle. He questioned the nature of the world and of human belief, thought, and knowledge, and also argued, “he who studies how things originated will achieve the clearest view of them.”
